Ceiling Fans for Low Ceilings

Fans for 8 foot ceilings include:

• Low Profile Fans with short downrods are often powerful fans adapted for 8 foot ceilings by use of a short downrod. These fans typically have 9" - 11" of  air space between the blades and the ceiling which allows the fans to more easily move large volumes of air downwards.
• Low Profile fans with long necks often attach flush to the ceiling, but have a thick neck holding the body firm and further from the ceiling than most flush mount or hugger fans. These generally have increased airflow, but cannot be mounted on a sloped ceiling. Depending on the specific fan's dimensions some of these can be used on ceilings less than 8 feet high.
• Flush Mount or Hugger fans are ideal for ceilings lower than 8 feet or where a desired light would hang too low. Their fan bodies attach flush to the ceiling, maximizing distance to the floor, but also minimizing the volume of air between the blades and the ceiling - which can decrease air flow.
